Hawai'i Island Steel Guitar Festival
The 2019 Hawai'i Island Steel Guitar Festival is canceled due to a completion delay of the hotel's renovation project.
 

Here is a more detailed description of the events and activities that HIMELE produces, sponsors, or collaborates with others to present. All festivals are co-presented by HIMELE and festival venue partners who provide major support for the events. KAUA'I STEEL GUITAR FESTIVAL
Kaua'i Steel Guitar Festival
The fifth annual Kaua'i Steel Guitar Festival is scheduled for February 28th and 29th, 2020, at the Sheraton Hotel in Kapa'a (rebranded from Courtyard Kaua'i at Coconut Beach.) The event will take place immediately preceding Keola Beamer's Aloha Music Camp and provides AMC participants an opportunity to extend their Hawaiian music experience. All festival events will be held indoors. HIMELE is partnering with the Sheraton to produce the festival. Funding provided by Hawai'i Tourism through the Community Enrichment Program. This program is supported in part by the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts through appropriations from the Legislature of the State of Hawaii and by the National Endowment for the Arts.

MAUI STEEL GUITAR CAMP
Maui Steel Guitar Camp
The Maui Steel Guitar Camp provides intensive training on the Hawaiian steel guitar. Workshops span multiple days immediately preceding the Maui Steel Guitar Festival, providing an opportunity for festival guests to first learn about and how to play the Hawaiian steel guitar before enjoying the festival.

MAUI STEEL GUITAR FESTIVAL
Maui Steel Guitar Festival
The Maui Steel Guitar Festival is produced in collaboration with Arts Education for Children Group. The date of the 11th Annual festival will be April 12-13, 2019, at the Outlets of Maui and relocate on Sunday, April 14 to Kahului's Queen Ka'ahamanu Center with steel guitar performances. Funding provided by Hawai'i Tourism through the Community Enrichment Program. This program is supported in part by the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts through appropriations from the Legislature of the State of Hawaii and by the National Endowment for the Arts.

HAWAIIAN STEEL GUITAR SYMPOSIUM
Hawaiian Steel Guitar Symposia
The Hawaiian Steel Guitar Symposium is a series of intensive steel guitar workshops presented throughout the State of Hawaii. Each symposium provides intensive training on the Hawaiian lap steel guitar. Workshops span multiple days and provide an opportunity for festival guests to learn about and how to play the Hawaiian steel guitar. Symposiums are conducted by professional Hawaiian steel guitarists.

HAWAIIAN STEEL GUITAR FESTIVAL

The Hawaiian Steel Guitar Festival is a series of steel guitar festivals presented at community venues on O'ahu and are focused towards local audiences. Festivals are presented at Windward Mall in Kane'ohe on O'ahu's Windward side, at Ka Makana Ali'i in Kapolei on O'ahu's Leeward side, and at Kahala Mall in East O'ahu beginning in 2019. This program is supported in part by the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts through appropriations from the Legislature of the State of Hawaii and by the National Endowment for the Arts.

Hawaiian Steel Guitar Festival at Ka Makana Ali'i
The third annual Hawaiian Steel Guitar Festival at Ka Makana Ali'i will be held at Ka Makana Ali'i in Kapolei on Oah'u's West side in February 16, 2019. The exact festival date will be announced later. While the festival is normally held in March, the 2019 festival is being moved to February because of rescheduling of the Kaua'i festival due to hotel construction issues. The 2020 festival will be held in March, 2020.

Hawaiian Steel Guitar Festival at Windward Mall
The fourth annual Hawaiian Steel Guitar Festival at Windward Mall will be held at the Windward Mall in Kane'ohe, Oah'u and tentatively scheduled for June 8, 2019.

Hawaiian Steel Guitar Festival at Kahala Mall Keiki Kine
The Hawaiian Steel Guitar Festival at Kahala Mall Keiki Kine will be held at the Kahala Mall in Honolulu, Oah'u on August, 17, 2019. Presented by John Pearse Strings and Breezy Ridge Instruments, this festival will feature youth steel guitar players ages 11 through 14 from Ke Kula Mele School of Hawaiian Music.

WAIKIKI STEEL GUITAR WEEK and WAIKIKI STEEL GUITAR FESTIVAL
Waikiki Steel Guitar Week and Festival
The Royal Hawaiian Center and HIMELE will present the 3rd Annual Waikiki Steel Guitar Week including the 10th Annual Waikiki Steel Guitar Festival during the week of July 15-20, 2019. The event will feature nightly, one-hour steel guitar performances Monday-Thursday, and evening ho'olaule'a programs from 5:30 PM - 9 PM Friday and Saturday. All performances will be presented at the center's outdoor Royal Grove stage.

HAWAI'I ISLAND STEEL GUITAR FESTIVAL
Hawai'i Island Steel Guitar Festival
The third annual Hawai'i Island Steel Guitar Festival, originally scheduled for December 6-8, 2019, at the Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts Collection, Kohala Coast, Hawai'i, has been canceled. Due to a delay in the hotel's renovation project, the hotel does not expect to reopen until the last week of December, 2019, at the earliest. Please check back for updates about the 2020 festival.
